UPDATED May 5: Due to a family emergency, Casapinka will be unable to join us on the cruise. Mary Annarella (@LyricalKnits) has graciously stepped up to the plate. She is one of Bronwyn's best buddies and a genius knit designer. I hope you'll join me in welcoming her to our group. And the fun begins in just 3 weeks!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Join Casapinka and me for seven days--not to mention seven fun-filled nights!--cruising, learning, and laughing (trust me!) as we knit our way through the Inside Passage of Alaska!
We're sailing May 27-June 3 on Celebrity Cruises' beautiful, award-winning "Solstice" to the following ports: Seattle, Ketchikan, Endicott Arm,
Dawes Glacier, Juneau, and Victoria, British Columbia. (Our itinerary conveniently includes a stop in Skagway, the home of Aurora Yarns, purveyors of Qiviut yarn and other special Alaska fibers. Some might call me an enabler!)
We'll have knitting classes while we're at sea, group activities and parties during the evenings, and lots (and I mean lots!) of swag! (Just ask anyone.)
The class listings are below. Three sessions are included with the cruise (past in-person cruisers get four classes), and additional classes are $50 each. As always, all evening activities, a world-famous goody bag, fabulous door prizes, and nightly seating with our super fun group is included.
New for this cruise: Every knitter on the cruise will be given one raffle ticket for the chance to win a Pirate Treasure Chest for Knitters. This amazing prize will include a brand new iPad with Knit Companion software, an interchangeable knitting needle set, yarn, books and patterns, and more! Additional raffle tickets are available below.
Don't miss this chance to cruise and schmooze with us! We've been waiting for two years to hug you in person!
We've arranged a private whale watching tour just for our group!
Join us May 30 for an exciting four-hour excursion during our stop in Juneau.
Additional fee.

POLAR ICE CAP (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?)
with Melissa Leapman
Let's kick off our Alaskan adventure making a quick-to-knit chunky weight hat. Although the design will be kept a secret until the first day of the cruise (even from nosey Sharon from Security), I can reveal that our Mystery Polar Ice Cap Hat will be worked in beautiful hand-dyed shades of chunky superwash merino using amazing--but oh-so-simple--colorwork.
Join us for this fun session and have a new, beautiful, warm hat to wear for the rest of our voyage. (And just imagine the group photos!)
[Optional kit fee: $64, includes 2 hanks of custom hand-dyed 100% superwash merino for the hat . ]
CIRCULAR REASONING COWL with Mary Annarella
Seamless cowls are always worked in the round, right? Nope!
In this 3 hour class, we'll learn how to work a circular cowl by knitting flat *and* seamlessly. Mary will walk you through the construction method as we all knit *ahem* cat-sized versions of the cowl--Melissa will collect our samples (if you wish) and send them to Sharon From Security as a consolation for cats not being allowed on the ship. Hopefully, this will get Casapinka out of citation jail and let her travel in her pink camper to the next yarn festival!
The full Circular Reasoning pattern will be included with the class, and you'll be able to start the full cowl after class--just be sure to send Sharon photos of your cowl (she likes to make sure we're doing plenty of knitting during the cruise!).
NOT SO FREUDIAN SLIPS with Mary Annarella
Up your colorwork game by giving your knitting the slip. This 3 hr class explores using slipped stitches and mosaic techniques for adding colorwork to knitting without stranding. Different textures result, and there’s no steeking if you want a flat piece.
We’ll knit a colorful sampler as we practice different slip stitch and mosaic patterns ranging from very simple to more intermediate. We'll even explore how to get a completely different look by changing which side you hold your yarn to when you're slipping a stitch! Cool stuff.
YOU CAN'T GO WRONG: REVERSIBLE CABLES
with Melissa Leapman
In this hands-on workshop, we'll explore cable patterns that look great on both sides.
By the end of class, you'll amaze yourself (and everyone else) with fabrics that have completely different cables on each side!
(Note: Participants should be comfortable knitting typical cables prior to the class.)
DESIGN-A-GRAM
with Melissa Leapman
Have you always wanted to design your own special sweater? Let me walk you through the entire design process from beginning to end.
By the end of this session, you'll be able to draft the pattern for any sweater with any yarn with any design details you want!
TOP-DOWN SIMULTANEOUS SET-IN SLEEVE CLASS with Mary Annarella
In this class, Mary introduces you to the top-down, seamless sweater construction where the set-in sleeve is worked at the same time as the upper bodice.
She’ll cover how the construction works, how to modify it to fit your body, and all the necessary skills needed for the construction, (i.e. the cabled cast-on, different increases, and a few short rows).
We'll be knitting a swatch version of the sweater's sleeve cap in class, preparing you to cast on for your own sweater once the workshop is complete!
PLUG 'N' PLAY ASYMMETRICAL SHAWLS
with Melissa Leapman
Mix and match different design elements to customize your own version of this popular silhouette. Choose from lace, mosaic, bubble stitches, and more in this fun, hands-on workshop.
AS YOU WISH: AN INCONCEIVABLE SHAWL CLASS with Mary Annarella
Knit the Cliffs of Insanity, joust in the greatest sword fight ever all while having a nice MLT sandwich where the mutton is nice and lean!
In this class, Mary guides you through the different techniques and stitch patterns for the As You Wish shawl--a popular recent Mystery Knit-a-Long.
A download code for the full pattern is included with the class, and shawl kits in the one and only Miss Babs' sumptuous Avon base will also be available on the ship.
FAUX BRI-AUX
with Melissa Leapman
Do you love the look of brioche knitting but can’t keep your "brk" and "brp" stitches straight? In this two-hour hands-on workshop, learn how to work several super-squishy—and fun! —stitch patterns that look like brioche without the fuss!
[Optional kit fee: $87 for the custom dyed 100% superwash merino kit to make the Mistura Infinity Cowl.]
